Marketers have never known more about their customers, yet putting that insight into action remains frustratingly complex. We recently sat down with the marketing director of a major grocery retailer to learn how their team builds seasonal promotion emails. From plant-based eaters to meat lovers, they had thoughtfully crafted rich customer personas, each demanding tailored messaging and product recommendations. Yet, delivering on that strategic advantage quickly became a costly operational burden.

The team was navigating a maze of disconnected tools and manual handoffs. Creatives worked in platforms their email systems couldn't support. Spreadsheets overflowed with personalization rules, leaving operations to painstakingly map each email variant to the right audience. Feedback from product marketers lived across decks, docs, and emails. What could have taken days stretched into weeks.

And this team isn’t alone. Many marketers are drowning in insights they can’t use, not because the data isn’t there, but because the systems needed to create personalized, scalable email experiences are fragmented and outdated.

That’s why we’re bringing advanced AI personalization to Typeface’s Email Agent — to help marketers turn strategy into execution without the usual friction. Now you can create, review, and export dozens of personalized email variations in a single streamlined workflow.

Critical bottlenecks to email personalization

When speaking with marketing teams about their email personalization efforts, we consistently hear about three challenges:

  • Fragmented tools: Marketing teams waste hours copying and pasting content across spreadsheets, design tools, and presentation software—increasing production time for ideating and creating new email variations.

  • Inefficient reviews: Since there’s no one-stop shop to review and visualize all of these personalized email variations, marketers end up chasing approvals, and managing feedback loops across multiple tools.

  • Manual handoff to operations teams: Marketing teams depend on technical and operations teams to implement variations in campaign managers. This bottleneck forces marketers to limit iteration and personalization or reuse generic campaigns.

A unified workflow for email personalization at scale

Our new capabilities within Email Agent addresses these challenges with a new workflow that streamlines personalized email variations:

Create: Start by generating a single email or importing an existing email you’d like to refresh from an email service provider or HTML file. Scale email variations based on your brand, audience, language, product, and campaign objective in one unified workflow while maintaining consistency with your relevant content (e.g. campaign briefs) and saved layouts. You can further personalize specific subsections of an email such as the banner image, subject line, and more for new combinations.

Review: Compare variations side-by-side in a single canvas without tool switching, giving a complete view of how your personalized content will appear to different audience segments. Typeface's Content Workflow Manager helps you track the content status to further streamline the review process.

Export: Export your email as a PDF, HTML, or PNG to review your email variations. Typeface also supports directly integrating with a campaign manager (e.g. Salesforce Marketing Cloud) to send approved campaigns into your delivery system. For additional flexibility, you can connect an API for custom integrations or download your emails as an Excel to script against it. This eliminates technical bottlenecks and gives marketing teams greater freedom and control over personalization.

How brands boost engagement with email personalization

This workflow enables marketing teams to personalize emails across different audiences, languages, and products. You can choose which of these attribute(s) you’d like to use to create unique variations. Here are examples of how our customers are creating email variations:

  • Personalize to audiences: Create targeted content variations based on audience interests and behaviors without starting from scratch. For instance, you can use this capability to tailor emails to your audience’s dietary preferences (vegetarian, pescatarian, etc.) or preferred brands, resulting in more relevant messaging and stronger engagement.

  • Localize across regions: Efficiently generate region-specific imagery and translations that are natural to native speakers. For example, you can localize emails (including copy, images, call-to-action buttons, and footer text) across multicultural audiences in minutes, decreasing production time for global marketing.

  • Optimize performance: Create and test multiple A/B variations of pre-approved email content. Email Agent recommends variation ideas based on your campaign context. For example, you can test how different subject lines, images, and tones affect engagement. Compare results block-by-block or as an entire email to see which experiment resonates most.

Accelerate your email campaigns today

Email Agent now lets you efficiently scale your email personalization. You can create and manage email variations in one streamlined workflow to eliminate tool fragmentation and technical bottlenecks.
